There are several reasons why this photograph speaks to me. For one, this photograph was taken in Battleground, Indiana which is about 30 minutes away from my most favorite place to go, Monticello, Indiana. Furthermore, I love wolves. I especially like this image because it really shows how expressive wolves can be and catches a moment in time. I think photographs of living things, such as this one, should tell a story about the subjects. I feel like this image allows the viewer to imagine the preceding and following moments, creating momentum and interest.
Technically speaking, I think that this image is well photographed. It is stop motion and shows the wolves interacting. I like that the wolf facing the viewer is more in focus than the other wolf; it brings attention to his eyes and adds character to the subject. The background is really fuzzy but the color adds dimension to the photo. I also really like the highlights on the wolves' faces. The highlights on the wolf on the right outlines his face and adds detail to his out-of-focus nature. The highlights on the other wolf's nose and side are contrasted with the other side of his face, making the detail in his fur and eyes clear while demanding the attention of the viewer.
And BAM... that's almost 200 words. Over achiever right here. :P
