Feet with "LOVE" written on them >:)
I really like the kids' faces are out of focus but that you can still see their expressions. I wish the writing was a little more child-like because I feel like it might have added character to the letters. I like that the children are on the trampoline, but that you can only see enough of it to recognize what it is. I think that maybe a different word other than "love" would have been more appropriate for two young kids; "play" or something to do with the surrounding area might have fit better into the image. Although I think that it is important to have just the feet in focus, I wish the faces were just a tad more in focus. I really like the subtle texture to the left side of the screen of the trampoline net. I feel like the angle of this picture is strong and well-suited for the atmosphere; the dirtiness of the feet also adds character and texture to the image. This photo was well balanced and definitely interesting; it is taken from a different perspective and creates a sort of innocent, natural mood. I really like the lines of the trampoline and how to the left they are diagonal but to the middle and right they are pretty vertical. I feel like the horizontal line from the fence adds division in the background and breaks up the monotony. I wish that there were a way to get the house out of the picture; maybe if the children had rotated to be parallel with the house so that it would not have been behind them anymore. Overall, I really like this image; the color in the picture is subtle and pops to add importance and interest to the kids and the letters on their feet.
"PLAY" in the playroom
The first thing that grabs my attention in this photo is the bright colors. I love the texture and detail in the rug. The lines are all over the picture adding interest without overpowering the image. I almost wish that the rug was the entire composition because I feel like the top of the image is unbalanced in comparison to the greater percentage of the photograph; in saying that, if the image was only composed of the rug you would have missed the child. I wish that the little girl was ON the rug because her outfit would have contrasted nicely against the blue. I really love the way the word "play" was put into this image. It is placed on a division line, using the rule of thirds vertically, and is balanced well. I also really love that "play" is not the only thing in blocks; the little block structure behind the word and the bucket of blocks makes it seem like the child wrote out the word instead of the photographer. I think that the door being open in the back balances out the backpack, but both items are a bit distracting. I like the rocking chair because it adds the sense that the child is playing on her own without supervision and writing out words; it seems as though she is a secrete prodigy or something of the sort. Although I feel like the balance is a little skewed in this photograph, I really like the message and feeling it is portraying. The little girl's expression is interesting and I wish you could see more of it or none of it. The word "play" would have lost importance with a larger aperture number, but the girl would have gained some; by blurring the whole background, it might have balanced out the monotony of the very top of the image and kept the girl from being a distraction and made her less important as a whole.
Firework "love" :O
This is a really interesting image! I really like that everything is so blurred, but the important part of the image, "love," is still and clear. I think that the sparks falling off in sporadic directions makes the word seem very spontaneous and excited. This picture holds a lot of energy in my opinion; the motion of the girl and the movement of the light keeps the eyes flowing through the image. I feel like the coloration of the back is supporting the image; the girl is in shadow except for her face being lit by the words, and the background is lit in a way that adds detail without adding distraction. I like that the girl is faced away from the camera because I feel like it really keeps the viewer interested. The light on her face adds importance to the word also. I don't like, however, that her arm seems nonexistent. Although I feel like this would have been hard to prevent, I think it makes it seem like the word is pasted into the photograph. I think the photo is balanced pretty well, but I wish that the word itself, not the girl, were following the rule of thirds. If the photo would have been rotated a little bit., I think it would have taken out some of the house on the right and put the word more towards the left; this might have been a better way to balance the shot. The bright light either needs to be farther away from the white house or on its own without the house in the image. The white in the light and the white of the house throw off the balance a little bit. I do, however, find this image very intriguing. It is easy to relate to and definitely playful and energetic. I feel like the photo really captures the time in which it was taken.
